Emma Tustin was found guilty of murder at Coventry Crown Court.
She is set to go on a parenting course during her time in prison after being offered tuition as part of her life sentence, The Mirror reported.
The mother-of-four poisoned Arthur with salt, forced him to sleep on the floor and made him stand in the hallway for up to 14 hours in a campaign of abuse in the months leading up to his death.
The course is reportedly intended to help her “manage certain aspects of her personality” and “deal with her way dangerous beliefs”.They added: “The phrase ‘too little, too late’ springs to mind.
“Tustin is jailed at HMP Peterborough – where the course is ran – in a unit with inmates with ‘complex needs’.The source added that the killer stepmum may end up serving more years if she does not face up to her crimes.
They said: “She will be required to take relationship and parenting courses.”She needs to tackle what went so catastrophically wrong with her care for Arthur.
If she serves just her minimum sentence she’ll be in her 60s when released, so could form relationships that bring her into contact with children.
“Arthur’s dad Thomas Hughes was also jailed for child cruelty and manslaughter and was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
A judge at the trial said he and Tustin did not display any remorse for their actions.
Arthur’s grieving grandmother Madeleine Halcrow said Arthur was failed by police and social services and branded Tustin and Hughes as “sadistic” and “evil”.
