In a horrific incident, a mother took desperate measures, shooting a man she believed was attempting to rape her 12 year old daughter in a hotel room.
This chilling episode occurred on May 24 when the mother supposedly entered a hotel room to find 39-year-old Bruce Pierce overpowering her daughter with a firearm at the scene.
The young girl’s shirt was ripped, and she alleged that Pierce was trying to remove her clothes while holding her down.
Pierce had a record of prior child molestation charges, adding gravity to the alarming situation. The mother had briefly left the 12-year-old alone with Pierce in his room as she and another daughter moved items to their car.
When returning, the mother reported hearing her distressed daughter crying out “No, no, no,” finding Pierce on top of the girl, subduing her.
Reacting fiercely, the mother fired multiple shots at Pierce with her own gun, reports the Express US.After the altercation, the family escaped and hastily departed the scene, while Pierce was eventually carried to Eskenazi Hospital for emergency care.
Last seen at a local Regal 8 Inn on West Washington St. in Indianapolis, Pierce has been missing since Tuesday morning.
According to PEOPLE, a spokesperson from the Indianapolis Police Department did not provide details about the ongoing investigation or the hunt for Pierce.
Pierce was hospitalized in critical condition on May 24, and there has been no further information regarding his current health status.
Legal records indicate that the 12-year-old girl was taken to Riley Hospital for evaluation after the traumatic event.
Despite initial confusion over his whereabouts, officials have now confirmed that Bruce Pierce is still hospitalized, with an active warrant out for his arrest.
The suspect in question, 39 year old Bruce Pierce, found himself critically injured and is now facing serious charges including attempted rape, attempted child molestation, unlawful possession of a firearm, and confinement, according to court documents.
Pierce has been on the sex offender registry since September 2019 due to previous convictions for child molestation.

This revelation emerges just one week after a former Coast Guard member, who turned to OnlyFans modeling, entered a guilty plea on Tuesday for the murder of a man she claims sexually assaulted her over a span of four years.
She had enticed him to a remote hiking trail before the killing and subsequently went to get a tattoo.
In a startling development, she also endured an assassination attempt by the victim’s parents.
Chelsea Perkins, aged 35, confessed in court to the murder of Matthew Dunmire, 31, which occurred on March 6, 2021.
Perkins, who attended high school with Dunmire, alleges that he raped her during their school years.
She managed to persuade Dunmire to meet her at Cuyahoga Valley National Park, a rendezvous that meant traveling over 300 miles from Virginia to Ohio.
Per the police report, Perkins and Dunmire ventured off-trail into a secluded area, where Perkins revealed a hidden handgun and shot Dunmire in the back of the head.
Hikers discovered the body three days later.
A week prior to her trial, Perkins confessed to second-degree murder and using a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence on federal property – offenses that could land her a prison sentence ranging from 20 to 25 years.
