⛔UPDATE 11th JUNE 2019⛔

Mum who let man she met on dating app meet young daughter shocked to discover his perverted past

Paul Holland had just been released from prison after he was caught by paedophile hunters trying to meet a young girl when he spent time with a mum he met on Badoo.

A mum who met a man on a dating app was shocked to find out he was a convicted pervert who should not have been near her daughter.

Paul Holland had only been out of prison a few weeks after being locked up last year when he was caught by paedophile hunters trying to meet what he thought was a 13-year-old girl.

As part of a sexual harm prevention order imposed alongside the prison sentence, he was forbidden from remaining in a household where a female child was present, without the express approval of social services.

But he made contact with a woman on Badoo, who had a two-year-old daughter, and arranged to meet up with her.

On two successive nights, he then went to the place where she was staying and spent time with the woman, in the presence of her child.

Holland, previously of Eslington Court, Gateshead, was caught after telling staff at his bail hostel where he had been.

Now he has been jailed for 20 months – the same sentence he got last year – after he admitted two breaches of the sexual harm prevention order.

Prosecutor Michael Bunch said it was in May last year that Holland was jailed for attempted grooming and attempting to incite a child into sexual activity, after being caught by a vigilante group.

He was released from that sentence on March 21 this year and in early May he was on Badoo, communicating with the woman.

On May 4 they went out, along with the child, and he showed her various sites around Newcastle as she was not from the area.

Then, on May 6, he visited her at her home in the West End, where her daughter was present. He returned the following evening.

Michael Bunch, prosecuting, said: “On both occasions the complainant makes it clear he was aware her daughter would be present during those visits.

“On neither occasion did he seek the prior approval of social services for those visits to the address.”

The relationship fizzled out and then on May 8 the woman was contacted by the police, who informed her about Holland’s previous conviction and the fact he should not have been having contact in the manner he did.

She said in a victim impact statement: “I’m not feeling safe in my own home because he knows where I live and may seek revenge.

“I feel embarrassed about the way I’ve been deceived.”

Judge Stephen Earl said of the woman: “She’s concerned and embarrassed that as a parent she failed, potentially, to protect her child.

“She thought he was genuine but he was not up front with her.”

Paul Currer, defending, said: “This offence came to light when he disclosed where he had been to staff at the bail hostel.

“He had not long been released and says he had a sincere and honest interest in developing a relationship with this woman.

“It’s clear he knew that would mean him being in contact with a two-year-old and he knew he would have to tell her but was hoping to do that once he had formed a stable relationship with her, more than two meetings over a couple of hours, because that’s all it was.

“He was just trying to form a quite proper relationship. It was very minor low level contact.”

UPDATE 30/05/2018

This is the moment paedophile hunters snared a pervert who thought he was meeting a decoy 13-year-old ‘schoolgirl’ he had previously sent photos of his genitals to.

Paul Holland, thought he had been speaking to the girl on social networking site Tagged but in reality he was chatting to members of paedophile hunter group Wingless Angels Sting Predators (WASP) who had contacted Geordie Chasers to see if they could take over as it was in there area.

In the video members of Geordie Chasers confronted Holland, of Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, then detain him until police arrive.

A member of the group can be heard saying to Holland ‘you’re here to meet a 13-year-old-girl’ to which he responds ‘no I wouldn’t do that, I’ve got kids’.

Newcastle Crown Court was told that, after more than a month of chatting over the internet, Holland arranged to meet the teenager at a shop near St James’ Park, in Newcastle city centre.

However, members of WASP contacted fellow paedophile hunters, Geordie Chasers, who confronted him and subsequently called the police.

Passing sentence, Judge Penny Moreland said: ‘You repeatedly suggested meeting [the girl]. You called her, on one occasion, during a school day.

‘On April 15, you sent her a picture of your penis. You asked her for pictures of herself – I’m quite sure you meant sexual pictures.

‘You sent her video of yourself [performing a sex act] and then you sent another photograph a week or so later.

‘The plan was to meet in Newcastle on April 28. You turned up for the meeting and you were apprehended a group who pose as children in order to apprehend people like you who engage in sexual conversations with girls under 16.’

The court heard that a member of WASP created a decoy profile of a 13-year-old girl on Tagged on March 13 this year and she was soon contacted by Holland.

Despite being immediately told her age, he continued the conversation and asked to move on to WhatsApp,

Holland soon suggested meeting up with the teenager and began sending the sexually explicit pictures and video and asking the girl to send him the same of herself

During the conversations, Holland also asked the teenager’s bra size before arranging to meet her near St James’.

He later changed the meeting point to a nearby coach park, which was where he was confronted by Geordie Chasers.

Rachel Master, prosecuting, said: ‘On April 15 at 1.17am, the defendant sent a message to [the girl] saying he was horny. [The girl] asked what he meant.

‘At 1.30am, he sent her a picture of his penis.’

Neil Jones, mitigating, said Holland was naive, ‘intellectually challenged’ and had suffered from depression since the death of his mother in 2006.

He added: ‘He’s a sad, sad 42-year-old with no real prospect of a real or valid, lasting relationship unless some real form of intervention takes place.’

Holland was also told to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for ten years and was made subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same period of time.

the founder of Geordie Chasers said after the case: ‘I’m glad he went down but unfortunately not for long enough, he gave us the run around that day but we don’t give up, we will find you and bring you to justice.. we are watching.’
